KIMG1242.JPGI would. There is a ball joint connection that is very susceptible to corrosion. I lost at least one cable. Then, I applied a marine grade white silicone. No problem since.

Awesome! Any recommended silicon brand? Sorry, very new to this boating thing... but I love it!

I used something very similar to Loctite PL Marine 3 fl. oz. Fast Cure Adhesive Sealant on the outside. If you can easily get to the other side of the transom, below the swim deck, I would used clear Silco RTV 4500 or equal. I used clear, so that I could easily see the fastener nut. Make sure the cable moves freely and is totally dry before sealing it! If you do not already have one, acquire a service manual for your year and model! It will make ownership so much easier and enjoyable.
