yes you need to repair it. You can do it yourself. Search on her for Gelcoat fiberglass repair.
You will clean it up a bit and just continually layer the patch and then sand. It will look great. White is easy to repair.
 
Agree. It does not look from the pic that you impacted the glass--just knocked the gelcoat off. Go to Spectrum and get the little jar of thickened gelcoat. It is the consistency of peanut butter and will fix that up toot sweet.

But do look on here for some of those threads @HangOutdoors mentioned (I have a couple) and they will show you all the tricks. Should be a quick job for you (an hour or so to clean up and lay the new gelcoat; come back the next day to sand and polish for another hour).
 
I agree call or go on SPECTRUM web site you can matchup your year and color follow the direction and it will look like new. I did a similar repair in April this year. You can save yourself some money and be proud of your repair. Good LUck
