just installed new housing and impeller ... waiting for all sealants to dry before i start it .. but from checking the cleanout port i grab the shaft and it has virtually no play ... is this normal ? thnx

There is little or no play in drive shaft, however there should be clearance between the impeller and housing.

If its already installed and the shaft is slid into place you wont be able to move it since its connected directly to the engine. However, prior to installing it on the boat, you should be able to spin it along with the impeller.
