VHF is pretty much right next to useless here in CO but I regularly get to Florida and the Great Lakes so I've got it. Presently, it's sitting on the shelf waiting to get moved from the old boat to the new boat. I've got it registered as well and the GPS interface cable is ready to be plugged in to my Humminbird. I'll just have to get online and update the MMSI number to reflect my new boat.

Questions for you regular bigger water boaters with DSC enabled:
  • Have you had the occasion to use it for your emergency?
  • Have you ever received a DSC signal and been able to help someone else?
  • Have you used the MMSI number to make a boat to boat private call?
Anything else, feel free to chime in. I may get an EPIRB one day once I get more time to actually be on the water but in the mean time...just curious.
