My battery strap buckle broke, the battery tipped over and leaked in the compartment. I cleaned it as best I could but the acid ate through the next strap (some 550 paracord I wrapped around it). The second time enough leaked that I was stranded. I keep a jump box on the boat but it was no use without a functioning battery. So I went out and added two new batteries, two new trays and straps, and a new switch. I also cut out the carpet where the acid had spilled.

New switch: Academy $25

Did you rotate your battery tray? Mine is 90° from yours.

Yes, it fit better like this and still allows for me to throw some life jackets in there.
