Lanyard is the string you are supposed to attach to yourself and plastic clip you are to clip on the special switch near the throttle levers so the boat engines power off if you are thrown off the boat. Also known as kill switch or dead man switch.

Any chance you reconnected the coils out of order? Each one has a dedicated electrical connector position, they are not interchangeable.

Maybe you exchanged the locations of the plugs! Try rechanging it and see if it works!

If you got it wrong on both sides perhaps. It would be rare. You don't need to remove much, just recheck the wires are not crossed to the harness and that the wires are connected in order to each of the coils.

More likely with neither one firing is the lanyard, but seeing you recently only touched the coils it's worth a check in that area

thanks--those pic's are really helpful--went back to boat and it was the lanyard and some of clips were not on all the way-- question--if you get coils in different holes than they came out of well that make a problem?

No problem if the coil is in a different hole, as long as the connection matches the one intended for the cylinder. All the coils are identical, but need to be matched to the right connector for the position they are on.

If it started,, all is well.
