Hi All!

Hoping somebody can help me out. First time out with my 2014 scarab 215 and noticed right away that the engines were not synching together with their rpms all the time. The green sync light would come on then when I would give it more throttle the sync light would disappear and I noticed that the rpms on my right engine was up to about 7000 and the left engine was running somewhere around 5500. Any ideas? The boat ran perfectly last season and coincidentally I had it winterized by the dealer and they also did some computer updates, so not sure if any of this has anything to do with it.

Also while I'm here, I updated my radio when I bought the boat to the 2015 version which is the black face sony radio. Now first time in boat for this season and radio is completely dead.. Cannot turn it on... Thanks in advance guys.... I'm not very mechanically inclined and very frustrated after my first day of the season out with friends and family.

1500rpm is a big spread, what about when you go at full speed?
Do you know if the dealer changed your spark plugs, sometime they get fouled during winterizing & you may have some misfire happening.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if they changed the spark plugs. It's probably a good bet that they did since they did a full service as well as the winterization...

So could this be as simple as changing spark plugs then?

It's possible that the dealer fogged the engines during the winterizarion process. This essentially is spraying oil into the engine intake which helps protect the Pistons, rings, valves, etc during storage. It's very common for this to foul the spark plugs. Hope it's a simple fix. Check with the dealer to see what service they actually performed. Good luck, keep us posted.

Hi guys. Quick update

Since I am not up at the lake with my boat I'm going to take a small gamble and have my local marina just install new spark plugs and pray this is the issue. Hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can reassure me I gave him the right info. Each engine has 3 cylinders correct on the rotax supercharged engine. So I will need 6 spark plugs total if they change the plugs on both engines?

Also gave them part no. DCPR8E. Which is a NGK part.

Is this the correct part number for the plug that can be used?

Also is there anything special I should mention to them regarding changing the plugs that is jet boat specifics? Thanks in advance guys?

You got it, 6x DCPR8E & I think tip needs to be removed or else stick coil won't fit.

So fingers crossed that it is just a fouled plug... now with regard to the radio. Does a blown fuse seem to be the most likely reason for the radio to not light up and power on at all? Again, the radio was completely fine before I took the boat in for service and winterization. Is there anything else that could cause this that I should be looking for and where should I be looking. Also forgive my ignorance, but where are the fuses located? Thanks in advance... ScarabMike you out there?! I know you know the ins and outs with these radios from your previous posts... LOL

I know this is a bit late @Jet16 , but I too had the same issue with my stereo after picking my boat up from the dealer after winterization. After a look in the engine compartment, I found they simply forgot to re-attach the stereo ground wire to the battery. Could be something simple as that. You probably already fixed the issue by now, but if not, take a look back there and ensure all your wires are properly attached.

Ignition had to provide 12v to the radio for it power up. You have the Sony head unit? You can do a quick check of the Red and yellow wires behind the stereo and see if they are getting 12v with the ignition on. I think the red was hot all the time and the yellow was ignition power. Maybe they goofed up something to keep it from getting its hot with ignition.
