After years of lurking this forum from the shadows, I have finally emerged and purchased a jet boat! A (new to me) 2011 sea doo challenger 180 SE. 4.5 hour drive one way, but worth every second! More pics and info to follow once I get home LOL!

Huge thank you to everyone on this forum... I owe a lot of what I know to you guys.

boating in the southern Ontario region; Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Niagara River, Muskokas!!

Very cool

Congrats! Nice boat!

You're making me feel old though.

It occurs to me that the day is approaching that a young person like yourself will join up here and a lot of us are going to realize we were on this board for as long as they've been alive.

As it is, I've been at my current job for the same amount of time you've been alive. ;)

hahaha! that really does put into perspective the wide range of people on this board. Feels great to finally be apart of it!

Congrats on the new boat she's a beauty

Thank you!! I have only been able to admire her briefly during the test drive, and in my side mirrors on the way home! Gotta finish up the work week before i can take it all in!

Congrats sir !
Just take it slow and cautious..
And always consider the safety of your passengers. (life jackets for all)

I hear that! First time driving a jet boat was yesterday during the test drive... Man, it is a whole different ball game at slow speeds. Going to take a few practice outings to get comfortable, that's for sure!

Full sized Jetboat and a sick truck at 22. Two words: Chick Magnet

It's gonna be a good summer!
hahaha! Unfortunately, i cannot take credit for the truck as it belongs to my friend. I tow with a 2016 Outback! A full sized truck is definitely the next purchase, however! Used - for now.

I've always been surprised at the versatility of Subaru. Those things can pull almost 4k right?

I love them! Our 2.5L 4cyl Outback maxes out at 2700lbs, which is fine for me as i am only towing ~5 minutes to local ramps. The 3.6L 6cyl has a 3000lb towing capacity which doesn't seem worth the upgrade. Their 7-Seater Ascetnt tows around 5000lbs. Much too big of an SUV for me IMO.

I helped a buddy put a receiver hitch and wiring on his Suburu Crosstrek, so he could tow his snowmobile. It was quite capable for sure.

You will probably be making friends even more with your buddy with the truck. As it will become real clear how much better it will tow. These mid sized pickups tow nice as well. At least you started out with a nice sized boat that will give you options.

That's the good part about owning the boat, friends will come out of the woodwork and volunteer a tow, drinks, etc. Everyone wins.

The saying comes from way before my time, but it still applies. Boats don't run on thank you.

I haven’t seen that bumper sticker in a long time lol.

That works for me! be a nice way to experiment with future tow vehicles!! You guys have it good though... No drinking allowed onboard boats here in Ontario unless there is permanent washroom, cooking, and sleeping facilities... Though i'm sure we could find a nice secluded location to let passengers "let loose"... Going to need more boating experience before that happens though!
