What does everyone use to help protect your tower from getting scratched when installing a clamp on rod holder or flag holder?

The rod holders that I purchased have a rubber insert that goes on the tower and the rod holder clamp goes over the rubber, http://www.dolphinttop.com/Rod-holder/62

You can see the rubber insert at the edge of the clamp.

If you ever thought you might was to carry fishing rods on your boat I would go with the Dolphin rod holders and this flag pole, https://coolwaterproducts.com/colle...s-rod-holder/products/4-rod-holder-flagpole-1

Unfortunately the dolphin rod holders do not have a large enough diameter for the limited towers (2015 + 242s) - Lee tackle rod holders are all I have found that will work. They don't have a rubber insert so trying to figure out what I can use to not scratch the tower.

Make yourself a rubber insert out rubber drawer liner material, bike tire tube, or any thin rubber.
