Picking up a 2019 212 Limited S tomorrow and will be storing on a dry rack, and will need to fold the tower.

Can the tower be folded with the factory shipping cover and also the Yamaha mooring cover installed?

Trying to think through storage options. Thanks.

I think you can put the mooring cover on first. fold tower down and then put on shipping cover. I haven't heard of anyone putting both on but its worth a shot. I, personally would leave mooring cover off and and just store it with shipping cover.

Was not planning to install both covers at the same time. Will have the shipping cover on Friday and will be a week or two until I get my mooring cover. Really just looking to confirm that using either cover, the cover can be installed first and then the tower can be folded down for storage?

The mooring cover is tower up, although you might be able to lower tower with mooring cover on, not too sure about that and dont wanna guniea pig my cover to try it. The shipping cover has to have the tower down before install.

Hmm... I would be surprised if Yamaha designed a folding tower and matching cover that can’t be folded with the mooring cover on. Has anyone tried folding their tower once the mooring cover is in place?

2019 AR240, I have the black mooring cover and can confirm that you can lower the tower after putting the cover on. No issues with water getting in and I live in the rainiest city in America (well that's what it feels like anyway).

I should note that this is the only configuration I use because I store at the house... Mooring cover on and then tower down.

Thank you for taking the time to reply - very reassured now! We will be rack storing and our marina requires the tower folded for us to fit. So, mooring cover on and the tower folded down when done, right before the fork lift puts the boat up in the rack.

No problem, you should be good to go! I don't do this as often as I should but a good trick for dropping the tower *slowly* is to toss a dock line on the tow point and then unscrew the lock points. I usually just end up unscrewing one side and then wedging one arm in-between the tower and the glass rail while unscrewing the other side - not my smartest idea. Good luck and happy boating!

Very much appreciated. And that’s a great tip to handle the tower when only one person is available.

Another question, have you put the mooring cover on the boat while still wet from a post use wash down? I am going to boat in salt water, so cleaning will be critical, both flushing the engines and washing down the entire boat. I am thinking that drying up as much water as possible would be best and after that, install the mooring cover.

I boat exclusively in salt and completely understand. I usually only put the cover back on after the boat has had a chance to dry. I did put it on when it was a little damp once because we were expecting a big storm but I came back and opened it up to air out afterwards. I'm really worried about mold so I usually shoot some air under the cover with the blower after doing yard work. It's nice having the boat at home ?.

Hey I just realized that the limited S models have gas struts and one post said they have to tie down the tower to keep it from springing back up. I think using a dock line would still work; just instead of using it to prevent a hard crash you go to the front of the boat, pull down the tower and tie off to the U-bolt normally reserved for hooking up to the trailer. I hope that helps and that I didn't give you something else to think about! Good luck and let me know how it works out.

So Lord Vader was 100% correct. We installed the Yamaha Premium mooring cover today on our 2019 212 Limited S. As expected, you can easily fold down the tower when using the cover. The nice thing is that on the Limited S, the tower breaks much higher as there are fixed pedestals where the tower mounts.

We installed the cover and folded the tower at the end, but you can easily fold the tower first and fit the cover as usual. We found the trick to be closing the Velcro and clips around the tower first, and then stretching the back of the cover down, over the swim platform and lastly, fasten the two clips on the stern hooks and ratchet to tighten.

Also, when folded the tower comes no where close to touching the mooring cover nor the top of the windshield. This is perfect as our boat is dry rack stored and we need to fold the tower to fit in the storage space. Here’s a pic on the 2019 212 Limited S with the cover on and also of our boat on the rack.

Thanks again Lord Vader!

Need to get yourself a bottom spot like that other Yamaha!

Yep, I am the new guy so hopefully in time. Bottom spots are great but everyone’s boat drips down on you and you’re constantly getting sprayed when people come in and clean up. Pros and cons as they say...
