Hey guys just wanting to reach out to see if anyone has any tricks or products they use to clean their salt water rims on the stock Shoreland’r trailer. I’m going to be buying some new tires the Good year Endurance 215 75 D14 from Sam’s club and they will mount and balance them for free with their promotion about to start. I’m gonna jack up the trailer get old rims and tires off and take them in and let them put new tires on. Prolly around $600 for the 4 and the spare so 5 total with free mounting and balancing.

My rims are pretty filthy from when I recently purchased the boat the old owner must have gotten something on them. Not sure how to make them shiny and newer looking without removing zinc or whatever is on them to keep them from rusting. Figured I would clean up rims while they are on old tires then have them mount the clean rims on the new tires.

Here’s a pic of tires I’m thinking about getting and pic of each of the rims. Also included a pic of tires I’m replacing so you can see dry rot up close. Think it’s time to dump that rubber. Also included a few pics of brakes and leaf springs (I think they are called?) to get some opinions on if I need to do anything to those or if they look normal. Thanks!

DANGIT.......I literally just paid $20/tire for mount/balance on some Carlisle Radials today at Sam's. Wonder if I can talk them into a refund since they had to order my size?!?!

I'm just going to heavily coat mine in simple green, then pressure wash before putting them back on.....but I'm in fresh water mostly, and have painted wheels. I'm probably not much help for you.

I just put some Endurances on my trailer and let me tell you the ride is night and day from those Carlisle bias plys. Was a great purchase

Was just told by a neighbor who’s been boating a long time that my tires have full tread and that’s not enough dry rot to replace them. Thoughts?

These are go-to for the undercarriage, springs, bolts .... and pretty much anything that can safely take a coating (bag/mask off brake parts that shouldn’t get sprayed). I use the fluid film on the moving parts (springs, pivots, hangers) and prefer the chain wax on other parts (bolts). Thanks to Rob’s Yamaha Jetboat Maintenance tips (not sure his username here on the forum) - works awesome on the jetpump.
