To grease or not grease the intermediate housing...

IMO - This was designed for a Wave Runner engine bay environment. Where it's going to get wet. The design engineer thought it would be a good idea to have grease in it to reduce corrosion?

I just don't get it.

I think for us boaters... spraying fogging oil on it towards the stern side where the boot seal is would be better than putting grease into it.

What's your thought?

I would go by owner's manual. Just take care not to over grease and pop the seals. Others have advised to apply grease until hose becomes firm.
