So I'm a little late posting this, but I've been doing my share of reading on here for a while now. I actually purchased my first Boat (2015 AR190) last spring. Since then I have sucked up my first rope, nicked the gelcoat, destroyed a bimini top, but the one thing I remember most about year 1 is how much fun we've had out on the water all last summer. Looking forward to season 2 and hope she treats me well this year!

Welcome, Where do you boat in DFW. We just purchased a 07 sx230 a couple months ago and plan to boat on Lake Ray Roberts and Eagle Mountain Lake.

Congrats! I'm close to Joe Pool. So spent many weekends there and a couple at Lake Belton and Lake Waxahachie.

Glad to have you on board, what until you start letting those kids drive/dock the boat, you quickly learn, it's only a boat and the fun and learning is more important,

be sure to visit our FAQ tab at the top of the page for lots of great tips,

Thanks Scott. So for me it was mostly just the 3 of us out there. They have done their fair share of driving full throttle all around the lake. I've always launched and trailered by myself and absolutely couldn't do it without their help! Pic above is actually them keeping the boat on shore while I run back to the ramp to get the truck and go park it. :D

I know that well, my wife isn't able to go with us so it was me and 3 kids starting at 6, 9 and 11,
Luckily we have a courtesy dock to tie up to while I would get the trailer but unloading/loading was all me for 3-4 years, even clean up at home,

get them involved, even putting life jackets away and carrying stuff back into the house,

depending on the maturity level, conditions, I think after lots of supervised practice at about 12 yrs old I would be starting to let them at least unload the boat but certainly let them practice/play docking or slow speed driving whenever you can,

Welcome aboard @smurf00 we are having a gathering on Lake Texoma the 27 of July. come on out.

:Welcome: We used to go to Joe Pool all the time till the massive flood a few years ago. We liked putting in at Cedar Hill S.P. We're now almost exclusively at Texoma with both boats. As @Jebinok already said, come on up to our gathering on the 27th of July to meet some of us and explore a big lake. For you coming from the metroplex I'd recommend launching from Highport marina. From there will put you real close to the Island that we're meeting at. Hope to see ya'll there.

I appreciate the information. As I know nothing about Texoma.

Welcome and that’s a good looking boat!
