Nice forum glad to be here! I've never owned a jet boat and I really like Yamaha AR192-195 but I have some questions. I currently have a 2000 Stingray 190rs with a 3.0L 135 hp Mercury. We have had it for 2 years and it's been a great boat but we are ready to upgrade. My boats weight is 2300 pounds and it rides pretty rough on choppy water. Will the AR ride better? My boat will run 41 mph gps and gets on plane pretty quick. Will the AR perform better? My boat is pretty weak when loaded with passengers. How does the Yamaha do? My boat has a 21 gallon gas tank and I very rarely use a tank of gas in a weekend. Does the AR get good mileage? I've owned Yamaha ATV's and SxS's for years so I know the quality is great. Sorry for so many questions on my first post lol. Just wanted to get some info from real owners. Thank you.

Welcome @zachsdad, you've come to the right place to have those questions answered. I however am not all that familiar with the 190 series Yamahas. So I'll leave that advice to those experts. im sure they'll be here shortly. Good luck with your search though. ;)

Welcome aboard! I'm a scarab owner so no info on the yammy.

Welcome Zach from a fellow Kentuckian. I have a 242 so can't help you on the 190 series either however there are numerous people here who will help you tremendously. You may want to add your location to your signature so people know where you are from to offer any local help.

Welcome. I have a 192 and had a 99 Searay 185 with the 4.3l. The space in the 192 feels much bigger than I had before. Also feels more powerful. I get on plane almost instantly. The heat soak in the 192 is aggravating but allegedly can be fixed with better intercooler. If your set on the 192/195 I would definitely go with 195 since it is already upgraded and has bigger pump. Jury is still out though on performance as I have not seen anyone report on it yet. A little more money you can get into a 210. Again, new engines so I don't know much yet. As far as my 192, people say they are gas hogs. I went through about $350 in fuel during a four day weekend down at Norris Lake. This was with very little floating around. Mainly pulling the kid around on tubes and skis and exploring. Even with the heat soak issue, I love my 192. I top out around 42ishmph with two and a kid. Haven't had it fully loaded down so can't comment much on loss if full. Don't know where in Kentucky your from but if you want to travel about 45 minutes north of Cincy send me a PM, I could take you out on mine so you know first hand if it's what you want.

I'm in Elizabethtown KY. Thank you for the offer if I head up that way I will send you a msg.

Welcome Aboard!

If you are looking for a better ride and low fuel consumption look at the larger twin engined Yamahas. The dry weight of an AR192 is 2,183 pounds which is pretty similar to your current boat. The hull survives rough water well but suffers from the light weight. The single engine consumes 8.6 GPH at ~20 MPH wake boarding or tubing speeds and gulps won 21.4 GPH wide open at 48.6 MPH.

The additional weight and lower consumption of the 21 to 24 foot boats are likely to suit you better. A used twin engine boat in the same price range as the AR192/AR195 that you are looking for may be the best option.

Welcome! Fellow Kentuckian here as well. We live in Northern KY and boat primarily on the Ohio River near Cincinnati. If you are going to be boating on the Ohio, I would agree with Bruce that a used 21 or 24 ft boat would probably be a better choice at roughly the same cost. We love our 2007 AR230.

Buying used is fine with me. Because if I buy new the 195 is all my budget would allow. I will keep an I out for used. Should be a lot soon with the season coming to an end.

For the price of a new 195 you should be able to get into a a very nice, like new 212X, AR230 or AR240.

I plan on taking my 195 out this weekend.. I'll keep u updated...

I expect you are going to see quite a bit more speed than the AR192 and hopefully a little better fuel consumption. If Yamaha's numbers are correct they have turned the 195 into the rocket of the lineup and made it competitive with the old Exciter models

Welcome Zachsdad from another fellow Kentuckian. My AR240 may be a little bigger than what your looking for but I would be happy to take you out to drive it anytime !! I live in Lexington but keep the 240 in a covered wetslip at State Dock in Jamestown on Lake Cumberland. I'm there most every weekend and I think you would enjoy handling a jet boat .Like others have pointed out, we are coming into a good time of year for deals on used boats.

Another ky boater here, welcome! Shoot me a message if you ever go to Ky lake or Barkley.

Thank you guys I'm not sure if I can make it to those lakes this season but if I do I will definitely hit you up! Anybody on here ever go to Nolin lake or Rough river? I went to Dale Hollow 2weeks ago amazing lake! I've been to lake Cumberland once but it was on memorial weekend. It was so crowded I didn't get to see much of it. I have a 5 and 9 year old so I'm very cautious on busy weekends.
