I have 2016 sx190 and will not power on. The gauges and radio will not power on. My battery charger sais it’s charged. I checked all battery connections, fuses in engine compartment, lanyard, rear plug and made sure it was in neutral. The boat was running just fine and then all of a sudden it wouldn’t power on. I ended up having to get towed. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help.

I’m no expert but try another battery first.... the charger may read charged but may not have any amperage...or a dead cell

I don't think you are missing anything but I would run out to walmart, advanced auto, or autozone and pick up a brand new marine battery and make sure I connected it correctly making sure the polarity was correct (mark the POSITIVE pole before you put it down in the dark hold, use a flash light to insure that + is + and - is -. and give her a whirl. There are lots of posts here from folks that know "marine" batteries inside and out, the overarching theme is "marine" batteries are different, and beyond that the Yamaha system is really amp finicky so if the battery doesn't give it what it needs...NADA...good luck and let us know what happens!

If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery quickly too. Let us know how either that voltage reads or if a different battery works. Did you spend time floating or beached with the stereo on today which could have possibly done in a dying battery?

I am going to try replacing battery tomorrow. The battery is only three months old. The boat was just fine and then all of a sudden it wouldn’t turn on. I was using the stereo but not long. Maybe 20 minutes or so.

I had an Interstate Marine battery from Costco drop a cell in about a month. Of course Costco was great about it and gave me a new one, but it does happen.

I had the battery checked this morning and its good. The only thing I can think of is the key switch, battery switch or cabling. I checked the regular fuses but not the big black ones. A local forum member is going to come by and help me out.

Sounds like a connection came loose amd a fuse blew. When checking connections don’t forget the posts behind the battery switch/switches. There should also be a small fuse box seperate from those in the engine compartment. Connectors not being fully plugged in behind the helm are common as well. Good luck.

I wanted to make sure that you knew that the big black fuse-like parts in the resistor/fuse blocks are actually resistors. Some are 120 Ohm and others are 1.2 kOhms. If something did short in the boat by accident, it is possible that a fuse in the ECU blew also. I think the main culprit there is the 30 Amp fuse. This would only cause the engine to not start though and it sounds like the whole system is not starting for you. I agree with Mainah about checking the battery switch connections. If you were not 4.5 hours away, I would come check it out myself. :)

So I just put the battery back in from getting checked and the boat started right up. I guess it was the battery connection. Really weird because I checked it yesterday but didnt take it completely off and on. Also boatus tried to jump me off and still didnt power on yesterday. This lets me know that I need to get a dual battery setup.

Grrrr.... I hate these "self healing" type things. I always tell my boat: "If you wanna break, then break. Don't do it half-way."

Im going to replace the power connecter as it is corroded at the battery and switch.

I would first try a wire brush to clean the ends. If pitted badly or overly thin; then replace.
