We have never been here before, I'm glad we made the trip. It took us about 8 hours from Cincinnati Oh.
The water here is beautiful, you can see the bottom in 12,13' deep water.

Very beautiful lake, would definitely recommend.

Air temp is 78-80 degree.
Water temp is 76-78 degree

A little chilly, except when the sun is out. Next week the forcast shows 85-88 degree temps so I bet the water warms up also.

Glad you enjoyed the lake! Higgins is about 9500 acres with a max depth of 135'. The average depth is around 50' with very few weeds. The lake runs about 9 miles by 4.5 miles. It is a great Jet Boat lake, as you can go virtually anywhere without depth concerns. The lake bottom runs from pure sand to a sand/clay mix. There are several lakes in Northern Michigan that are similar in character and appearance, meaning intense tropical looking colors in sunlight. Higgins is the closest of those lakes to populated areas, I live near Lansing and it takes 1:45 or less to drive.
This is my first year on the lake and water temps have been more hospitable than I expected. We were in the lake the weekend before Memorial Day with water pushing 70, by June 1 it was 75ish. Since that time, we have been between 74 and 80 in any part of the lake that I have been in. Near shore, 77-80 is the norm.
It has been a great season so far as I hit 80 hours last weekend.

That's good to know. Somewhat surprising actually. Water temps at Cass Lake & Orchard Lake which are much smaller and farther south was 78-80 the last couple weekends. Maybe I'll try to get up there next year.
