Hit Something Submerged

So just looks like our holiday weekend got cut short on boating. Hit something submerged while out yesterday that did a pretty good number to the keel. Any suggestions? I’m thinking it’ll have to go for a professional repair at this level... It was a rough boating day as also sucked up our first rope when posting up to go swimming...

Mine was similar. Suggest get a pro to fix it and get a keel guard on there. Will save it next time.

I am a big DIY person, especially when it comes to fiberglass.

Um, given the size, location (on the curve of the keel) and the fact that the glass is impacted, have a pro do that one. If you have insurance, this would be a good time to make a claim. Probably looking at $1500 to $2500 if I had to guess.

I would consider myself a pro fiberglass guy and i will say you need to find a local pro to handle that. Since its impact, the damage may be deeper than what you are seeing. The keel needs to be strong and there could be stress fractures deep into the glass layers which all have to come out.

Thanks for the tips I’ll be making a call to two highly rated shops tomorrow to get quotes and see if it will be something I’ll turn in on insurance...
