So attempting to repair the drain in the ski-locker I put a hole through the bottom of my boat (dumb move I know). But now I had a hole to fix.
1. I cleaned the hole with a wire pipe cleaner. Slight countersink with a larger drill bit and sanded the edge and acetone.
2. Filled with Six10 thicken epoxy (mixes in nozzle of gun). Tapped bottom.
3. Next day it cured but was ugly.
4. Wet Sanded 60 up to 800. I was careful, but still removed some top-coat paint near the repair. That said, if you close your eyes you can not feel the difference where the repair starts or ends so I think it was successful. I’m not worried about cosmetic because it’s the bottom of the hull.
I also purchased a gelcoat repair kit from spectrum, I am going to use it in another spot of the boat where I have some gel coat damage. I am considering putting it over this area as well to restore the color. Then again, it seems smooth as glass so not sure if it’s needed.
