Question - when I go out on the water I have both my House battery and Start battery ON. I've never tried turning one off when in use.

Prior to going out this morning I noticed if I only turn on my House battery the connext screen won't turn on. If I turn on the Start battery it will. I always thought the boat would power up off either battery (or both).

Am I misunderstanding how this works or do I have an issue? Both batteries show strong voltage while in use. Also, I did have an amp and speakers installed awhile back. Curious if the battery wiring was altered.

Thanks!

It is the way they are wired to the switch. Depends on how it is wired.

Yes...if wired properly, the House will energize the boat control systems like the Connext. The Start battery has one purpose, to start the engines.

On my boat, if I only turn on the Start switch, my Connext will not start and no other functions work. If I turn on only the House switch, the system will fire up but immediately alert that the Start battery is at 0v and there's an issue. I can't start the engines without it on.

I would check the battery wiring to correct the issue. The wires should have little labels on them to help discern what goes where. If you can't figure it out, take it to the dealer and send the bill to the amp installer.
:)

My boat is the same as @212s. Is the amp wired to the house battery? It should be.

Also, try checking the voltage (with a meter) on the house battery. I had similar issues to you a while ago and it turned out that the house battery was low.

Thanks - yeah, measuring the voltage is my next step.
