First off, my factory bilge pump is working fine but I cannot seem to wrap my head around what controls it. Can someone explain how Connext interacts and/or controls the factory back pressure bilge pump? The bilge pump itself only has a two wire plug. So it would seem that Connext controls the every two minute "check". How else would you be able to turn bilge on manually from Connext? Does anyone know how these back pressure pumps are installed in other makes of boats? No big deal, just trying to learn something new. :)

usually the bilge pumps control their own two minute check, I suspect the context just supplies power.

If the bilge is controlled by the connext every single Yamaha engineer should be fired. It's amazing that a single point of failure, the connext, can lead to dangerous situations.

I have to believe that these pumps are just normal pumps controlled by the Connext system since they only have a two wire plug going to them. Electrically speaking there in no other way if they only use two wires.

So the connext is always on? What happens if you dock your boat in the water?
It only needs 2 wires a pos and neg, with the pos going to a switch. Mine is on a switch and if I were to keep it in the water I would install a float switch. When mine is switched on it cycles every so often and if it senses a load caused by sucking water, it stays on until the load is gone.

I don't know if the context is on all the time or not, do you have a bilge switch on the dash?

Bilge "senses" if there is water every few minutes when the house battery is on. The Connext screen doesn't have to be on for it to operate. I am wanting to use a automatic float controlled bilge and integrate it with the manual control through Connext. Understandably this may not be feasible.

@Levi Weatherford .....your bilge will operate even if your battery selector switch is set to off - according to your Yamaha users manual.

I think my 2017 is different from the newer models. I am positive it will not run without house battery switch on. I do believe you guys with newer boats have the bilge connected directly to the battery.

@Levi Weatherford ....you could certainly be correct, although that would be somewhat disturbing to me. To verify you could turn your battery selector switch to "OFF" and use a meter to see if your bilge pump is energized.

Not in 15-17s. Battery is required to be on for the bilge to function, its asinine (and confirmed in the user manual).

2019 AR 240.. Bilge pump will work even if the batteries are turned off.... Ask me how I know? My connext screen died completely so I cannot control anything.. Boat starts and runs, but you have no control over anything.... New bilge pump has a side button that you can press and hold for about 5 seconds and the pump will run.... The pump also has a water sensing ability. When water is sensed the pump will run.. Owners manual also states pump will run even with batteries in the OFF position...
