Ok, so I'm curious... how does my base model, 2015 165 measure speed? Jet skis seem to have little wheels... familiar with the little keel on older boats... but can't seem to find either on mine. I've read GPS but I'm having a really hard time believing this for my model 165. No fancy computer and GPS antennas require line of sight to work well + take time to lock on to enough satellites to measure speed reasonably well (it measure immediately my speed). I know, I work with GPS data quite a bit.

So is there a sensor inside the intake grate? Engine? Somewhere else? What is the general design of it?

Just curious, no issues with it.

It's a gps speedometer. The antenna is hidden inside the dash.

Thanks @Scarabtech, but I opened the dash many times and did not see a GPS antenna. At least not the ones I'm used to.... do you have a picture? Or a link to what it looks like?

Nevermind, I looked them up and realize it is probably inside the gauge cluster. Fascinating...
