My brother has a 2014 Scarap 195 and it sucked a tow rope into the intake and it wrapped back around his impeller and shaft tube.

He tried to cut it off but no success in removing all of it.

He tried to remove the grate to gain access. He got the 3 aft screws out but the 2 front ones was going around. He managed to tighten them up again.

Is there nuts on the inside? He looked but could not see them as they would need to be under the motor.

Any ideas how to remove rope and grate?

You help would be greatly appreciated. cheers

I tried to remove the grate last year. No luck. Took it to dealership and some skinny little guy was able to retighten the grate from under engine. They said to pull pumps and not mess with removing grate. Pulling pumps seems like a pretty straightforward process.

Pull the pumps from rear of boat. Piece of cake.

With the boat on the trailer, Sometimes you can remove the spark plugs and then pull on the rope which unwinds it. But pulling the pump is probably the likely solution.

Thanks for the replies.
Any special tools required to remove pump?
I downloaded the parts list for reference but want to make sure he has all his ducks in a row. I am currently not home so trying to get all info for him. Thanks

Anyone know where to down load the Rotax 4-tec service manual? I have searched on line but cannot find anywhere to buy it

Awesome, thanks.
I am currently working in Trinidad and will be back in Newfoundland, Canada on 16th June so can't wait to do some riding in my 195, hope mother nature cooperates. My brother and I have the same boat, just different color. Can't wait to hand out together.
When not in boat I will be going to remote locations in my float plane fiishing. YIPEE!!

Any chance you want to take your plane to Bimini next week? I'm sure @Bruce can shuttle you around on his boat? :D:D

I'm literally dealing with this right now. We have the Scarab 195 in the water. Tow rope sucked into intake grate can someone tell me what we need to do to remove this?

[USERGROUP=9]@HELP[/USERGROUP] can be activated for on water emergencies. I'm not well versed with your boat, but carbon seal is a concern.
