I am ready to place an order to add more speakers to the boat. I already have (4) wet sounds xs-650's and a rockford fosgate m400-4 amp installed with 4ga. marine wire. Looking at a pair of wet sounds icon 8's, another pair of xs-650's and a wet sounds htx-6 amp. Will run all (6) xs-650's with the htx-6 getting 100 watts each and bridging the icon 8's with the m400-4 getting 200 watts each. Does anyone have the icon 8's and how do you like them?

If you like your WS speakers you will LOVE ICON8s. They are not mellow-sounding, as you know, but loud, great looking, pretty awesome overall inside the boat/swim deck and surf distance. Also very light all composite construction which may be somewhat helpful with the AR tower.
I have the WS420 which helps when tuning those up, they are really very bright (probably too bright for a living room, but perfect in a boat).

I've been thinking about taking my HU rca cables and running y splitters from the front channel on the HU and splitting to the front and rear channels on one amp for the in boat speakers and taking the HU rear rca's and splitting them to the front and rear channels on the tower amp. My thinking is i would be able to use the HU to fade out the in boat speakers when we are in the water to listen to the towers. Would this affect the soumd any? Trying to hold off buying anymore stereo equiptment. This next round is going to cost me $1800.

That should work fine, as far as I understand it. For me the only issue is - I just don't like going through the Connext screens which you would need to do to fade - and that's where the WS420 shines. Not to mention, it is really a fun PA system with the talk-back mic. I use a dedicated WS HT-2 to power the ICON8s.

The ws420 has a loud speaker setting? Oh snap @swatski, now I'm going to have to buy this. I will mess with all my buddies when I pull up to them lol. Facing the icon 8's forward and yelling out beer police.

My kids think it is a karaoke. Do make that mistake!
