Place seems just fine without him.

Does he wish to return? Does he understand what actions caused the ban? I never got the impression he could wear the other's shoe and in any discussion just turned abrasive and mean without reason, never accepting or considering the validity of other's opinions.

I understand a few weeks before being banned he deleted all his positive content.

I would ask..Why would you un-ban him? (Legitimate questions...after exhibiting the behavior he did, why would you? - How would the site/community be better with him than without him?)

IMO if he has requested a return and publicly asserts in a welcome back post to "play by the rules" (that can worded better BTW) then I say let him back.

If he hasn't requested the return, then let sleeping dogs lie and don't change a thing.

I don’t know if he wants back or not. He’s not my buddy And I have no idea how to contact him.

But he had valid opinions and a colorful way of sharing them. A forum is a better place with contrasting points of view.

I know of few members got butthurt and likely complained to admin. I say let him back and if you don’t like him put him on ignore.

I think he violated the rules enough that i personally don't see the upside.

If he was able to explain his point of view without being so "colorful"/rude and aggressive, maybe I would have a different opinion.

Outside of that, I'm not sure that bringing him backdoes any good, He isnt going to have a sudden change of heart because he was banned for a week. If anything he will be worse. And things around here seem fine without him. Thus, I thought this drama was behind us.

I agree, opposing views are essential to a good forum ecosystem. Sadly his opposing views were presented from a platform of stirring the pot, and not elevating the overall conversation.

His opposing views were not unique or novel, and we freely discuss the negative aspects of jetboats all the time. No need to be a prick about it to everyone you interact with.
