2008 212X black and grey with only 90 hours on it, seems to be in great shape. After some negotiation 25k. Looks in amazing shape other than a few marks on the one side that I'm hoping can be buffed out. What do you think?

Sounds a little high.
I wish I was closer to Florida as I've noticed boats there are on average 2-3k less in this range. Of course some are salt water boats. I'm torn, my budget is low 20's up to 25 and I want a 212x but there's literally none out there. My other option is a 14 192 for 21k.

It depends...
BUT
you are not going to find one of those 212Xs in excellent shape for any less. Certainly not this time of year.

For similar money, there is no comparison between 2008 212x and 2014 192 for somewhat similar price. Unless you can get the 192 very cheaply and use it to just figure things out, "do I really like these jet boats" kind of a thing. But if you already know you want a 212X, there is not debate (IMHO). The 212s are just pretty awesome.

The 212X MR-1 HOs with low hours are not likely to give you any trouble if properly maintained. There are some issues and some quirks but w/the help of this forum I wouldn't be afraid to jump in head first, provided major checks done.

The 2014 192 has about the same chance of a major engine issue - MR-1s show cracks in the block at about similar rates as pre-2016 1.8 break timing chains, it seems... (both very rare).

$25K for the 212X is a bit high but as noted above, you are buying in prime season, so the asking price is not unrealistic. I would not go the 192 substitute route. The 192 is a great boat but a totally different animal than the 212X, I just don't think the 192 would meet your expectations, not to mention the loss you may incur when you trade up to what you really want. If you really want to be on the water this summer, just bite the bullet and accept the seasonal price increase, and start enjoying the boat. The price isn't going down and the boat inventory is probably not going to get any better until fall.

As for the 2008 MR-1's, I have 2 on my 2009 232 Limited and they are performing flawlessly. Maintain them well and you should have no problem.

Thanks, that was kind of my thoughts as well. I could wait another 2 and a half months and probably pick it up for 3k less but there's simply no others out there. I'm coming off a tige and I loved the boat but I just didn't use it enough which is why I thought maybe I should go the 192 route. The other option I was thinking was buying an ar230 but 06's and 07's are listed in the 22 range near me.
