Is this normal? I tried to tighten but they only go in so far.

Oh, and if anyone needs to glue their foam back on. This is the answer.

that is not normal for the screws to stick up. might want to check if they are cross threaded. they should be able to hand tighten then screw down all the way.
looks like too that you are missing the rubber washer one of the screws

The washer may be missing or compressed by pushing on the engine cover. Loosen and remove cover to investigate.

Just pull up on the cover. It is likely that you leaned on it and pressed it down. No biggie.

That is totally normal if you leaned on the cover. Pull it back up and pretend you don't know what happened. :)

@MattFX4 Same here. There is actually a grommet on top of a small anode (5) that this bolt goes through (of all things) that gets squashed. I looked at it initially after it happened. Just pull up the cover and you good.

Am I the only one who ditched the cover? I prefer the naked look on this motor. I think the cover looks better hanging on the garage wall.

You guys were right. Cover got pushed down. Removed and reinstalled grommets and all good now. Thanks!
