Hi all,
My right engine stopped engaging in drive. I initially thought it’s electronics related. I tried turning off a few times to no avail.

After sling ride on one engine to the dock and putting the boat on the trailer, I’m suspecting mechanical issue. I found plastic debris on top of the gate (wedged in). I took it out but still not working.

Any ideas please? Even if temporary to get me through one day of boating

What kind of boat Do you have? E Drive?
First open the big black box located on the flor under your Drive wheel. Change shifting to manual inside this box. Try to move shifting cable manual by your hands. If it moves smooth then you have probably Electronic motor problem that moves cable.

Much obliged! I was able to move it. It’ll do as workaround this weekend.

A couple of questions:
1) do I need to put a pin somewhere to Keep it open while underway (I feel like I read that somewhere)
2) I could start the engines while gate open, but it won’t rev up. I had to start the engines in Auto then switch to manual then open the gate by hand for it to rev up. Is that the only way I can shift it in gear? It’ll be good if I can shift it once
3) it looks like the rubber seals around the shaft on the troubled gate are missing. (I attached both sides for comparison). I’m hoping it’s just the shaft that needs replacement and not the motor

Found the answer to my questions in the operator’s manual (duh). Thanks again for the help!

I don’t have an e-series, but just recently replaced my gate cables... My commentary is geared towards a potential solution and determining if its a cable that needs to be replaced, or the e-drive motor/relay...

If you put both port and starboard in the manual positions, does it seem as if one cable has more tension that the others (that being the side that is not functioning)? Not sure if this is possible to tell w/ the e-throttle...

For me the giveaway was that one throttle kept sticking and would require significantly more effort to move from N to F. My cable was corroded, and a new one fixed the issue. I am brining this up as you noted one cable does not have the two boots...

Hope you are able to enjoy your weekend and that this is s relatively easy fix!

Can anyone confirm this is the shaft part needed for the gate? I was unable to find a clear diagram of it online: 6AP-45511-00-00

My boat is 2016 Limited SE.

Thanks in advance!

After removing the debris, have you tried to do a hard reset? Disconnect battery for 5 min then reattach. I’m guessing the wedged debris messed with the sensor that informs the Connext what position the bucket is at and now the computer is confused. Since you cleared it, returned the bucket to open, it might be worth resetting by disconnecting both batteries.

Good point. This has happened once before when my batteries ran very low and it seemed like the computer didn’t want open the gate till after batteries were charged fully. I’ve added 2 large batteries and I hadn’t run much yesterday when I had this issue. So, it must be the debris

I will try your suggestion today! Thanks!!

So, I reset the boat by disconnecting the Batteries. It didn’t work the first time but the 2nd time it worked. Then it stopped working then it worked again. I’ve tried it several times in a row and it’s been working just fine.

I plan to order / replace the shaft. I only hope it’s not that difficult for me to replace myself. shops are several weeks backed up
