I saw on yamaha website something
About jet thrust enhancers. Does anyone know what this is and what year they offered it.

Thrust directional enhancer.

2012 up

This feature started in 2012 and was an attempt to enhance the slow speed steering characteristics. It works to a certain degree but far from a complete solution.

Yamaha needs to redesign the reverse buckets. That won't help the slow speed steering but these boats suffer from very poor reverse capability. I don't understand why they don't do some research and make some changes. There are lots of examples on jet skis that have better designs. It looks like Scarab has hit this pretty hard. I'm thinking the Scarab reverse system might just work quite well.

Hey Will perhaps this is a JetBoatPilot opportunity!

Can't speak to the reverse and slow speed handling characteristics of the twin engine boats but I find the reverse action quite sufficient on the single engine boat. I had to learn to anticipate when the reverse thrust would have an effect on the boats motion and to manipulate the throttle to get what I needed but she handles pretty well in reverse.
The DTE feature makes a big difference in control of the boat, she wanders quite a bit at slow speeds but in NWM she tracks along pretty good. Perhaps the larger twin jet hulls handle differently but the DTE feature on the single jet hull works.

You know Yamaha uses a similar reverse bucket to the Scarab (Seadoo) reverse system on their PWC's. I can't really understand why they would not do the same on their boats. We do not have plans at the moment to change the way they control the boat in reverse but I am interested to see what they've done with the new 2015 models. There are a lot of rumors flying around.

@jdonalds I agree with you. With the Mercury jet drive, the reverse was much better. Here is a picture of their reverse bucket. It is a full wrap around to each side.

Well I guess I wont worry about and see if the did something to the 2015 I can steal and place on my boat. I did learn something from visiting the yamaha web site. I didnt know I could (didnt really think about) I could use the throttles in the no mans zone (as I call it) in no wake mode to control momentum forward and reverse when docking and loading. They have a video detailing it.
