Hey guys just picked up a 2018 Black/Red/White 242X E-Series! I am so stoked for next summer as my 10 year old daughter has gotten really big into wakeboarding and wakesurfing and she will be able to do it so much better behind this boat than our outgoing 2015 SX210 (which is for sale in the for sale ads on here, shameless plug).
Will include some pics below as I got it in the lift and completely detailed it and when lowered the lift and got down in the freezing cold water and cleaned the bottom in a bathing suit in the middle of winter. My neighbors must think I’m nuts (I probably am). It looks so good now all cleaned and leather seats cleaned and cleaned and then conditioned and interior looks amazing now. Tonight after I took these pics I debadged the entire boat of the old registration stickers and also removed all of the warning stickers on the entire boat. Can’t believe how many they put near the drivers seat. So much cleaner now with all the stickers gone. There were 6 stickers on the swim platform! All gone. So far I’ve added Cobra Steering @Cobra Jet Steering LLC and it drove incredible for the only time I had it out which was just got bring it home on the lift. My last boat had his steering system also and I can’t say enough good things about his steering systems and he’s a great person also. He let me swing by his house and installed my new steering for me and he also fixed my “Surf Point” Jet nozzles back straight rather than pointing slightly inward. One of the pieces of marine mat snap in carpet flew out on the trip home (of course the biggest one) and I had to order another one for $300. Didn’t even think to remove it must have not been snapped completely. Luckily I saw it at a gas station filling up and then removed all the rest for the remainder of the trip. 13 hours each way was brutal! Full detail done but still have some more small things to do. Couple questions some how the wakeboard racks the black stretchy shoe lace looking thing to hold the boards the strap is on it’s last leg hanging on by a thread. Any ideas what to do to replace it or repair it? It’s splitting by the fibers bad. Also something really weird the wind door (one that opens up to the amp for the sound system) to stop the wind from coming into the cockpit does not reach fully over to the other side where it’s supposed to lock into place. It doesn’t reach the grooves fully. Maybe the door was never big enough.
Put a stoltz roller on the trailer today and something I got really lucky on when I launched the boat one of the trailer bunks was split in 2. Will be replacing that piece of wood tomorrow. So glad it made it home with the split piece. It was probably like that when I picked it up maybe he didn’t know maybe he did? Maybe it broke on the ride home. Either way nice that it should be an easy fix.
Almost bought this boat a few years ago new but glad I waited as I wanted to make sure we would love boating as much as we do. Can’t wait till the summer and to take this thing out for some fun on the water with my girls and then go to dinners listening to this awesome sound system and with the cool LED lights on. The sound system is crazy loud but I think the front right speaker may be blown. How easy is that to fix? Unscrew the speaker head then disconnect a few wires and reconnect wires to new and screw it back on?
Can’t believe the difference in power between the old boat and this one. This sounds like your firing off a couple 350 horsepower car engines compared to the old boat. I hit around 49 MPH with a full tank and just myself and my daughter for the one time I’ve had it in the water. Maintenance looks like it will be easier as oil filter will be much easier to get to from what I can see.
I cleaned and re water proofed the sun cover for the tower and also the premium mooring cover. For rest of winter I will have the mooring cover on. Should I have tower Bimini on also or leave it off for rest of winter?
Thanks to everyone (especially @Julian )for all of the advice and opinions and help. On to the pictures of our new addition! LOVE this color scheme.
