Holy hell, I thought I'd go put on my new Boat Buckles real quick. Luckily they included the stainless bolts and "lock nut" that LOCKS UP as soon as it threads on! I've been pulling on it as hard as I could without it budging, and the bolt is still only flush with the nut, about an inch and a half to go! I even broke out my air impact wrench to try to get it to back off a bit and it's not moving a millimeter. I might have to break out the grinder and cut these bolts off and get another stainless set of bolts, with some standard stainless nuts and lock washers to get this done! This is ridiculous!

Good luck. Had the same issue. I bought new hardware.

@Big Shasta is correct. I had to put galvanized nuts on the stainless steel bolts. I've also read different grades of stainless steel are compatible. Don't know why the manufacturers don't smarten up or at least mention the possibility of galling in their installation directions.

Hope you can get them off. Those SS fasteners can be a real pain.

I just cut them off, went to Lowe's and got some stainless metric bolts, regular nuts and lock washers. I don't have time for messing around with that foolishness. :p

And no pictures of the finished project... what a tease...

They're just Boat Buckles, man! LOL

We all like our porn.. boat stuf or bronco stuff is mine. :)

The one thing I mean to show off one of these days is the WeatherMAX 80 custom cover I had made by the Amish last year. It replaced my Yamaha cover when it disintegrated after only a few years. I'm really happy with it and how they made it work.

I had 1/2" SS bolts for where my stand off poles for my dock link back to the shoreline . . . . . Had to whiz wheel that bad boy off this season. Would not budge.

Try never seize on your stainless steel threads.

WD40 would have worked great. I put a little bit of Teflon on the wake wedge hardware when assembling and haven't had one issue. Of course my line of work I knew better then to put them together dry, seen SS fasteners gauld 1000+ times.

Here us what I did with the SS nuts and bolts. I first tried two wrenches. Did not get far, but did notice that to the extent I was able to get the bolt in, after I backed out the bolt, I could hand tighten. For the rest of the length I put a wrench in a vice and used an impact gun and slowly drive the bolt in. The bolt and but got really hot. After I backed out the bolt, it went in easier.
