Hey guys, looking for a good lake to go to in FL for a weekend get away. We usually do Lake George and Silver Glen Springs, but looking for something different this year. Would like to have a nice meet up spot with other boaters, be able to do some water sports, and some bars to go to on the lake. Any ideas?

The Dora/Harris Chain of lakes is all connected via canals. You have Mt Dora, Tavares, Eustis, Howie in the Hills, with some eateries on the water, or public piers which you can dock at and explore the area. People do water sports, but I personally am not a fan (gators). There are also a few spots with sandy bottoms where boats gather. Apparently, you can also venture up to Silver Springs via Lake Griffin and the Ocklawaha River (I have never been).

The Conway Chain of lakes (just SE of downtown Orlando), is also popular, but I don’t believe there are any commercial establishments, likewise with the Butler Chain of Lakes (just SW of downtown)

How do you feel about saltwater because the Indian and Banana Rivers have a lot to offer but I would not call the fresh water. You could spend a few days in the area and do a lot. I was there last summer for a week almost every day and had a great time , plan your timing right and you can see a rocket launch too!
