Found a dealer selling a preowned 2018 AR190 with trailer for $20k. It still looks like new, however it has 543 hours on it. I’m new to the boating world, would that be considered high hours on a fairly new boat? What questions should I ask the dealer about the boat to make sure the engine won’t blow on me soon?

50-100 hours would be about normal range per year for family that uses the boat frequently.

Not worth the buy? Should I be worried about engine problems with hours that high?

People say these motors are good for 2000 hours before major work.

I agree with @Maccam26 that it was most likely a rental boat based on the hours. I would ask that the dealer add on the standard 3 year warranty and have a mechanic look it over.

Are those 543 hours in fresh water or saltwater?

I use my boat alot and its only 100 hours year. I agree, rental. I wouldnt buy a used car from Avis, i certainly wouldnt want a rental boat.

My Dealer had brand new 2018s when i bought my 2019 and they were 27K with a warranty.

I picked up my 2018 AR190 for 26800 with trailer of course so for a few extra thousand it may warrant getting new if you can find a good leftover

Thats a good price and I would buy it if you can get a warranty. I paid $20k for my 2014 with 98 hours (granted, everything is more expensive in NYC). The 2018 has a lot of improvements over the 2014 and you should be able to get the extended warranty. If the boat is in great condition then you are saving $8-10k over a lower hour 2018 boat? Put that in your savings.

Our 2016 190 only has 90 hours after 3 years and has an extended warranty good through 7-2020. I was asking 23k. For a few more bucks you should be able to find a boat with much less on the clock.

Pay 6k more. Get you the same year with under 50 hours. Never deal with nightmares. Also, started with the 19 footer, and now at 24 after a couple of years. Wish I would have started where I am now, but I have 3 kiddos. Good luck.

I just noticed that it's an AR190 that you're looking at and there's about $6k difference in MSRP between AR190 and AR195. My previous post was thinking that you were looking at AR195. I think that you can do better to find a lower hour boat.
