RightStuff I too live in the Twin Cities area south saint paul and am having a hell of a time finding a nicely priced used 21ft yamaha. Thanks for the response.
Good luck on the search, I don't personally know of any for sale at the moment, so I can't help much there.
I did a bit of looking thru Craigslist to find boats to look at, that seemed to get the most hits for me around here. They are out there, just tough to find up here, I was even looking during the fall and didn't have much luck finding much for used boats. That's why I caved and went with a new one instead.
Here's a search that includes some areas nearby that has some options:

This one looks nice (exactly what I have):

Does anyone know if the maintenance/reliability on the different engines relatively the same?
As for this, there really isn't much difference, both have been in jet skis for years with many, many hours on them without issue. So they have tons of history for reliability.
There are some posts around here about cost to maintain these engines, generally you are doing about the same stuff to either engine type (same # of spark plugs, oil quantity per engine, 2 engines for things to break

, etc., etc.) The 1.8L will suck a bit more gas that the 1.1L for a day on the water, but that's about the only cost of ownership difference engine-wise that I can think of. The rest of the boat/trailer is basically the same outside a few internal upgrades on the 212s (speakers, ballast, cruise assist option, seat colors).
I would take
@d_coyne1984 's advice since they probably will be coming out with a new model this fall that will be in that 21' range. If you are ok with being patient for 4 mo. (details usually come out mid-Aug.) that model might be worth a look...
