My 2018 Boat shower hose cover started coming loose immediately. No use tightening the screws because there is nothing to hold onto. Tiny sheet metal screws going through 1/8 inch fiberglass with nothing to hold onto. Unbelievably poor design.

I am debating getting this fixed through warranty or fixing it myself.

I am contemplating using epoxy to permanently secure three stainless steel nuts on the backside and just bolting the cover in place. The other option would be adding an adhesive around the edge for extra support.

Any one else come across this issue?

Thoughts?

Pretty standard stuff to just screw things into the glass. You might try going to the hardware store and just picking up a similar sized screw with a coarser thread, should be enough to bite into. Alternative would be small machine screws with a nylock nut. If you remove the speaker you'll have plenty of access behind to hold the nut while you tighten.

If you can get behind it (as suggested), I agree that I would just go to the hardware store and get some stainless bolts and nylock nuts. If not, you may be able to use the existing screws with a short length of string trimmer line shoved in the hole, then start all the screws. Cut each line short and tuck each under the plate. Then tighten down the rest of the way.

Thanks guys. I am very hesitant to pull the speaker out unless absolutely necessary, and luckily I found some stainless steel screws from an old waterski binding that were the perfect size. I also used a clear rubber adhesive on both sides of the rubber gasket. It feels very secure but the hose tends to hang up when you pull it out so the jury is still out on this repair. I am going to see if I can put some kind of “pull” on the hose to make it easier to remove.
