Looking for opinions on magazine subscriptions:

I'm looking at Boating Magazine and Boating World as they seem to be similarly lined with my interests... trailer boating, day trips, tubes/skis (haven't gotten into the boards yet, but the kids are still young), possible vacation destinations, etc.

Any body have any opinions on whether either of these magazines are worth it? Would anyone be willing to send me a back issue or two of either, if you have them laying around? I don't really care how old, just trying to gauge whether the content is something that I'll like and actually read. I've been trying to find a way to buy a single issue without purchasing a subscription, and none of my local retailers carry them, and I can't find them via Amazon or booksamillion websites.

Or, any other suggestions out there?

Thanks!

If you are a member of BoatUS, they produce a publication that is worthy of your time to read. It may be available on their website for free -- never looked.

Most magazines are full of boats and vacations WAY outside my range. I'd love to see a magazine that covered boats between 0 and 25 feet or boats simply under 100k. This is a huge range with lots of options for coverage.

They used to have a trailer boats magazine, but that morphed into boating life which morphed into boating magazine. They tried, not enough subscribers is my bet.

It's what sells at Hudson News at any given airport for boating mags that determine survivial.

Did you check your public library? Might be able to get copies there to check out.

Hmm, I'll check on that. Our library is on the small side, but the wife and kids are up there relatively frequently.

Thanks to all for the tips, so far!

I get Boating magazine. I bought it from the school kids in our neighborhood fundraiser. It's a good read. Most of it has some version of relativity to our boating. And it's fun to see how the other half lives. Lol. The Boat US magazine is also a good read.

More rounds, the better.
