Need some help! 2015 Yamaha 242. Ran into terrible weeds in a lake. Pushed the engines little by little to try and make it to the dock before getting towed. Starboard engine shows an over temp warning and goes into limp mode. I cleaned the intake grated. Clean out plugs, and screen on the out drive pump that was clean. Water flowing evenly from the “pissers” but is noticeably hotter from starboard side. I let it idle on the ramp various times, and the signal and check engine went away. But as soon as I get it with throttle, it goes into over temp in 2-3 minutes. What else can I check? Thanks for your time!

Have you check the gates with boat out of the water.............I hit some sea grass cleared out plugs pump screen clean but the port engine still running hot, she over heated every time on plane........................back on lift I could see the long sea grass caught in forward gate folding back covering a lot of the intake as the boat moved forward.....this grass could not be reached from the clean out ports.

Your best bet is to pull the boat out of the water and check the entire pump system.
