I’m new here and new to Yamaha. Looking for some insights. Just bought a 2018 242X E-series Wake boat and really like the boat so far. One thing I’m disappointed with is the boats inability to maintain speed when fully turned. I live in Utah and boat lakes between 4000-7000 ft so I put in the high altitude impellers, never was on the lake with the stock ones. When I turn hard either direction there is a dramatic inability for the boat to maintain speed. I can be cruising at 30 mph and turn hard to complete a 180 and the boat nearly comes off plane and I’ll slow down to about 17-18 mph by half way through the turn. Any thoughts or ideas? Is this typical of the Yamaha? I keep the boat at full throttle and the rpms seem to maintain but speed does not. Hoping to find a way to improve this aspect.

Hey Utah, congrats on your new boat!

I can only share my observations from an AR190 and 212X.i have also always found that I bleed off quite a bit of speed in a right turn, I believe it's just a characteristic of a jet. Though, I do find the twin holds speed a bit better than the single in the 190.

Hope that helps, just a characteristic of jets, in my mind there are a few trade offs, but so far all are well worth the positives!

You have to throttle up in turns to maintain speed. Not a big deal at all. Just give it throttle. The jets lose efficiency when they are turned.
