Was on the water yesterday for the second time with our 2021 SX190. We stopped for a minute and I turned off the boat. Went to start it back up and would crank but not start. Checked a few things, then removed the clean out plug and put it back in. After that it started up. Has anyone had this similar issue?

Could of been the safety strap clip or maybe the lid on the swim platform wasn't completely closed. Both areas can prevent the boat from starting.

:Welcome:
The cleanout plug does not have any kind of lock out ability - it's just a plug. But your actions of opening and closing the hatch might be clue. Check the safety switch under the cleanout hatch - I found my strb switch was 1/8" lower than the port and it wouldn't start sometimes. According to the manual this switch is supposed to prevent the engine turning at all but it might be a double action switch where it needs to be full open to lock out the engines - not sure. I taped a dime under the hatch over the strb switch to depress the switch more and it appeared to fix the issue. So then I adjusted the switch upwards 1/8" and it starts 100% now - no other changes made.

Thanks, I read the same thing in the manual about the rear hatch. I adjusted it up a little bit and can see that it is fully depressing the switch. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

Rear tray latch, and lanyard switch are common culprits.

Another issue to watch for on the 1.8's is what's called Vapor Lock. If you've been running them hard (surfing, high speed runs, tube pulling, etc), and shut them down immediately afterwards, then the high pressure in the fuel lines between the pump and the injectors is now at a high temperature as well, and can cause hard starting issues. Several users (including myself) have noticed this to be the case. You can usually see this condition appear for say 1-10min after shut down, sometimes longer. The best remedy is to let it idle for a minute or so before shutting down. This lets the engine cool just a shade and prevents the problem.

Keep an eye on the conditions surround it happening next time (if there is one, hopefully this is isolated)

Thanks, this could of been the issue yesterday. We did this exact thing yesterday, we stopped after going WOT for a little while and turned off the engine. Thanks for the advice.

Vapour lock is what I thought it might have been when it happened to me too, but it was only the strb engine, never the port. After adjusting the switch, it never happened again and summer just got hotter and hotter which didn't make sense if it was vapour lock. I shut them down after some high speed runs and lots of heat and still no re-starting issues. Maybe I was just lucky...I dunno. I'll see how it reacts this season and watch out for this again.
