We just purchased a 2020 Yamaha SX195 and man that was a hard boat to find. We have several other aluminum jets we run on rivers for fishing.

This Yamaha has a break in period of around 10 hrs, which we just surpassed. The dealer we bought from is so backed up we can't get it in for almost 3 weeks.

My question is should we not run it until we go get the oil changed on the break in???..... We have 11 hours on it right now.
This boat is my wife's purchase as she has hated every boat I have ever bought to this point and that we own. I was hesitant on this little rig but, she did her research and this was the boat she wanted and man I have grown to love this thing in the short time we have had it, very very fun boat.

this seems like a very great forum and I look forward to drawing from your guys seemingly vast amount of knowledge

Welcome, as you've already seen this forum is a great resource, glad you were able to find a boat, sounds like a tough market right now

I also had heard you have to replace the superchager on this motor after 100 hours, is this true???

Nope, there is to time interval for rebuilding or replacement of the supercharger on a yamaha.

Although i would invest in a blowoff valve because it will alleviate added stress on the supercharger clutch(one way sprag)
When you come off the gas and reapply it beats on the clutch. A BO valve will help

You are good to run the boat up to 20 hours before the first oil change - that it what my dealer said and others have posted similar information.

Yep get a BOV, I got mine from fizzle factory. Was about $280 I think. I had to switch out the factory air box but I have an '18 195. Type in SVHO owners in the search bar and you will find a great thread. Which is where I found all of the info and also how to install. I am not very mechanically inclined at all, it is fairly simple

Wow!!! very nice info, does a blowoff valve affect any warranty that you know of???

If you've ever changed oil on your car before, I would recommend doing the 10hr service yourself, and don't wait much longer than 15 hours. All most dealers really do is an oil/filter change. Buy the oil, filter, and grease from the dealer, should only cost you about $50, oh and buy an oil extractor pump.

If you want the dealer to do the first service but they can't get it in for some time ask them if you can run it longer, if they say yes get it in writing so if there are problems down the road you can always go back to what they said and have a record of it.

Do the 10 hour service yourself. Just document every thing you do. It is not hard. Keep that boat on the water and your wife happy!
