Coda: I wrote to WindLine. I was honest and told them I backed it into shallow water and asked my options. Promptly got a reply asking me to send pictures of the ladder to see what they could do. Sent those that evening and got a note today offering me a new one at a price I could not refuse. So I am going ahead with that. *VERY* impressed with their customer service. They have been more than fair with me!

Apparently karma works.
