Good afternoon. My buddy is looking to buy a 2015 AR240. He's questioning the odometer reading because it's only at 17 hours. The seller is the 2nd owner claiming to have only used it once. The original owner was an elderly man who rarely used it according to the seller. My question is can the engine hours be manipulated like on older boat's?

My dash was replaced under warranty and the hours started over after. Yamaha dealer can attach something to the computer system to verify correct amount of hours though.

I could see 17 hours in 3-4 years. I doubt I put an hour per day on my boat when I use it, I cruise to the sandbar or a restaurant, then anchor, then cruise back. Trips take about 15 mi utes each way. If they used the boat like me, 17 hours would be probably 40 plus lake days.

Certainly the dealer can double check, but this doesnt seem unreasonable to me.
