Topped off oil before heading out. Ran about 2 to 4 hours over weekend. Does not look like much oil was used. What would a "normal" amount of oil consumption be? Should I have used more than that?
Everything seemed to be running fine.
Thanks.

Open up to the carbs and look for it coming out. If it comes out evenly on all 6 then rest assured.
If doubtful then throw a small bit of oil in your gas as a precaution.

Talked to local marina yesterday. They also mentioned to pull the plugs to check for oil content. He mentioned if I ran for 4 to 6 hours over weekend with out oil flowing something probably would have happened then. I will check the carbs as you mentioned as well, better safe than sorry.
Related note:
I have read a lot of people bypassing the oil system and adding mix directly to gas tank. Any opinions from anybody on going that route?
Thanks.

Lots of people bypass then have engine failure after a season or two because when starting they aren't getting fuel/oil through the lines yet and the engine is spinning with no oil. If you bypass simply install a primer bulb or electric primer.

I recommend upgrading the lines. The pump is variable and gives the engine what it needs. The lines once upgraded are fine and i have never heard of someone having failure once upgraded.

Check @islandracing for what you need!

The oil injection system regulates the amount of oil flow based on RPM. I believe it to be a beneficial and well designed system outside of the issue of lines aging and shrinking. I kept it in place in my LX210 and would continue to do so if I still owned her.

I believe the lines have already been replaced by previous owner, will have to check invoices.
Speedling, please forgive the question, very capable of working on my own stuff but new to 2-stroke engines.
When I pull the cover off the carbs will it be obvious where to look for oil flow?
Thanks.

I run direct 50 to 1 ratio pre mix . it will smoke a bit more at idle. It was done by the previous owner. Im glad I dont have to worry about the tank the lines or the pump malfunctioning.

It will be a little dribble i believe. However after thinking about it more the inlet may be just under the throttle body making it hard to see.

I have ran my LS for 2 years now, I was questioning the oil consumption "or lack there of" at first as well. As mentioned above the injection system dictates the amount used. If you are running WOT a lot it will use more, if not it sips oil. Just check the lines from the pumps on each engine and check the lines at each of the carbs the lines should be flexible and not pulled tight they should have slack in them. Other than that you should be good to go. I have made it a habit to check them each time we go out. If there was a problem you would have definitely known it, in minutes not hours...it is awesome to see we are getting a few more 2 stroke members

Great advice everyone! Looks like I am good to go, noticed oil level dropping more. Thought I would be using more oil when I bought the boat, guess not! Bonus!
This is an awesome forum, thanks everyone.
