Hello, I'm new here and was wondering If I could some feed back on my new design. ThanksIMG_1688.jpgIMG_1688.jpg

Hello, It's a new design for a water jet I'm working on .I've attached an older pic that shows it a bit better. Mark

It looks neat...

Does it work? How different is it from current propulsion options (Prop and Jet drive?)

Best of luck!

Looks like a Dyson with that acrylic on the render heh. Looks like will be belt driven from the smaller shaft/hub?

I assume concept is similar to these ..... Rim-Jet - Surtsey.org

Hello, The pic you shared is a thruster and is a bit different than my design as my Impeller is connected in the center to minimize cavation at high velocities . The 3 variants is Propulsion ,Hydro Generation and Circulation . I'm not an engineer just an Inventor.lol

Would be interested is how you deal with bearings and seals.

Also needs to have reasonable service consideration for belt replacement.

Hello, The bearings and seals could be configured with a taper fit and a retaining nut at the exit point of flow with a proper torque and that way access to belt by removing Impeller, belt would be cog design and replacement would depend on hrs of operation just like a timing belt.

The design looks very elegant but I would think you would loose some efficiency going from a shaft driven to belt driven rotation of the impellers.
I would need to know the design motivation to comment further.

Hello gthh, To answer your Question and as you have knowledge of fluid mechanics the benefits in this design far out way the losses .The motivation in this design is to have a constant angle of attach of fluid to Impeller and a homogeneous flow throughout Impeller in this variant I've been told it has promise in Hydro Generation as well . Please see attached of an older Prototype.

Thanks
