Looking for a plumbers advice for a bathroom addition.
Current
2 1/2 bath with 3 toilets
3" drain stacks from all toilets tie into a 3" main inside crawl space and terminates to a 4" main just outside the foundation. (See pic below)
Proposed
Converting a large closet into a full bath.
The closet is just off the master bath so all tie ins can be within 10'.
Tie new drain into existing 3" stack from master bath.
Worst case I can run a new stack and tie into the main.
I was looking at NC code and it looks like you need to bump up to a 4" main in the crawl space once you surpass 3 toilets.
I am not sure what the difference is with terminating to the 4" pipe inside the house vs about 2' outside the house. Or do I need to terminate to a 4" just after the last 3" drain terminates to the main?
Obviously I am trying to avoid having to break through the foundation to add a larger pipe. Our household size will not be changing so the flow would not change. I have a plumber coming out tomorrow for an estimate but was hoping to get some feedback from here.
