Hello friends: As i was checking my boat I knew I needed to replace my jet unit impeller wearing ring. As I was performing the maintenance I notice all the bolts for both units loose. Granted my boat is a 2013 and this is the first time I perform this maintenance and I never thought to check since all this bolts supposedly have thread lock in them. The big problem is with the transom plate. Apparently it was not completely seal from the factory and salt water was getting to the main four bolts that hold the wearing ring to the transom plate. I had two bolts break on my port unit and one on my starboard even though I tried penetrating oil and heating the bolts. I think is because these bolts were loose, corroded and possibly flexing, because of the loose bolts, that it contributed to the shearing of the bolt when I tried to remove it. I even tried an easy out and the easy out broke inside the bolt, making it even more work intensive to remove the broken bolts. After drilling and tapping the bolts (M10X1.25) I ordered titanium bolts to replace them, the reasoning is that they are stronger and replacing the wearing ring will be necessary from time to time. After replacing the bolts and re assembling the jet unit and all its bolts to the proper torque the boat is quieter and smother.
