Since Thanksgiving was cancelled this year I decided to run up to storage and pull the batteries and pumps today. I bought the boat in June so I did not have the history. Looks like someone has been in there before. Impellers and liners look great but one of the bearings looks like some water may have got in. Bearing still feels smooth so I think I will just replace the grease in both cones. Also, all the bolts had white "caulk" on the threads. Was that factory or someone didn't want to use locktite. Both shaft ends also had this weird coloring to them.25E27548-6FD1-436C-885A-CB49E7BBFC70.jpeg521F183B-F17F-47DB-8D8C-1186F66861FF.jpegD205B547-5519-4F4E-95E2-5821DCFE0850.jpegA4A91CCA-A52D-42AF-BEB0-5D9682DB7221.jpeg

Get some new orings for the cones for sure. In case there was water intrusion

If there was any water in there, it was minimal on the bottom one. True water intrusion that grease will all be a milky whitish color. Those look pretty good to me. Regrease, new seals and put them back. Good to check those--big trouble if you miss them going bad.

I am glad I decided to check it. I have the bottom pump sitting up with some good grease in it. I heated it up with a heat gun in an attempt to get some down to the lower bearing. May do the worx cones while it's all apart.

Does anyone put the pump sections back together with the anaerobic gasket maker the manual calls for ?

I haven't had need to pull those apart on mine (yet)... So no help here.

Um i just did mine and didn't use this? I'll be watching for an answer. I hope I don't need to take apart.

I used sealant.
no biggie if apart and SM called for it.

I just did mine, I used the loctite gasket sealant 518 when I put it back together. I mean, the manual calls for it so why not just do it. The stuff is like $8 for enough to do all the connections for 1 pump.

All the parts and chemicals have finally arrived.
How much gear oil should I ad with the epnoc grease ? A capful ?

I spread grease on like peanut butter around and in spacer between bearings before pressing it it. Then packed housing and cone.
I thought of oil bath but once I was done it wasn't necessary.

This was my intermediate bearing housing.

This is what I ended up doing.
Mixed Yamaha epnoc with gear oil I had until it would just barely flow from the plastic knife.
Put the pumps outside in the sun and poured the mix on. I will leave it out for a bit to let the grease and housing warm up and gravity flow down to the front bearing. After I put the cone back they will probably sit this way until I reinstall before next season.CD5F91F9-735C-4A69-97FA-8A26EE11C89E.jpeg2281A279-5836-48B4-90F2-B7EC451AED5D.jpeg

Looks good.
Thats was my plan but after using grease I figured finish with it.

either way I bet it spins.

If you start motor you can hear engine with out pump rattle.

I plan on mixing gear oil with a Yamaha grease in my cones this season, looking for the red line gear oil and all of them seem to say it's for a limited slip differential. Is this the same type of gear oil I should be using? Also where do I find the part number for the o-rings? did I search but couldn't find it or just plain missed it. Thanks.

I just used what I already had in the garage. Any gear oil is fine.
Put it all together a few weeks ago and did a quick run. So far so good.
