Pulled the pumps on my 2019 242X E due to low speeds and horrible hole shot. I noticed one shaft has a worn area possibly from a rope that got wrapped around it some time ago. Only thing about that is I wouldn’t think it would look so fresh as if it just happened. The other thing is that both the splines seem to be discolored and smell burnt. Could it be intermediate bearing issues or a lack of grease?

The splines go into the intermediate bearing, it is possible the bearings are on their way out and heating up excessively, transferring the heat to the shafts
