Hello all,
I have a quick question. when you have seadek or something of that sort installed do they take out the buttons for the original factory carpet?

thanks,
Todd

Yes if you want it to look good and last you will need to remove the buttons, but I do know Marine Mat makes snap in style which allows you to use the existing buttons if you go that route.

The buttons come out pretty easily and you can fill them with a little exoxy. Most will be covered with the SeaDek. When I installed the complete set in the 242, it was about 1/2 day project with two of us working on it. Just go slow, and line them up best you can and get the bubbles out. The install videos on Jet Boat Pilot are great.

Thanks for the reply's. We don't put the carpet in our boat and have been thinking about seadek. My wife hates the snap buttons on our deck, she steps on them all the time apparently. So good to know those go away! thanks again everyone!

I’ve never heard of this but it’s possible? I think if you’re properly cleaning it and filling the snap holes with 5200 epoxy I don’t think sanding is necessary and I’ve never seen that recommendation in any of the instructions for the installation of Seadek.

Todd55 why don't you use your carpet?my advice would be use the carpet for a few seasons then when turns to crap install the seadeck. On the flip side if you haven't used the carpet you could sell it and use the cash for the new seadeck or beer.

Using a drill to take out the snaps is a synch. I just bought my 2015 AR210, removed them, and filled with marine grade epoxy. Simple. Just started putting in my Seadek, while the cushions are out to get reupholstered. So far so good. Next up the cabin and bow!

Anyone sand down the no slip nubs ?
In order to sand off the non-slip areas, you would remove the gelcoat on the fiberglass, so you would need to coat it again after you're done sanding. But no need, Seadek sticks down over those areas just fine - I added the step-over pads to my boat and it works great, no lifting or peeling. I think getting it perfectly clean is key - use soap and water to clean, dry well, then use alcohol or acetone (stronger) with lint-free cloths to clean the surface and once dry the Seadek will stick like glue <-- no pun intended.

I took off the covers last weekend to check everything was ok in the boat for spring, and the Seadek is holding perfectly.
