Radio question when connect to fusion MS-NRX300 MS-BB300

Question for anyone with the fusion MS-NRX300 and MS-300.
When phone is connected to the fusion radio via Bluetooth are you able to control the volume on either the connext screen or fusion radio without having to adjust volume on phone?
When I am connected via Bluetooth neither screen or radio volume controls work, I need to turn the volume down on the phone, is this normal?
