So I have avoided getting a dedicated installed gps for a while but decided I'm going to get one. Was set on a garmin unit for the ability to have an auto routing feature but really like the Raymarine Dragon Fly units well it appears now with the navionics plus maps it's now possible but looks like you have to subscribe to the navionics annual updates to use it. Have any of the guys with the Raymarine units used this yet on theirs?

I am interested in this as well as I just installed the 5" dragonfly pro. It came with the old gold charts that included lakes and coastal waters but wasn't planning on upgrading to the plus version as I didn't want to pay the annual fee. I would be concerned on the Dragonfly unit the ease of use of auto-routing without the touchscreen.

I generally use auto-routing on my Iphone or Ipad - very simple with just touching where you want it to go.

Have you tried seeing if your phone can connect to your GPS to use the auto routing feature on your phone then send the chart to the GPS through blue tooth? I'm not familiar with the all the features on the dragon fly yet.

No as I just had it installed last week and will test it in the lake this weekend. However the way I understand it is that u can display the dragonfly on your phone but not your phone to the dragonfly.

I will play around with it this weekend.
